10 Top Tips for Keeping Your Cut Floral Blooms Fresher for Longer

  1. Trim the Stems: Cut about an inch off the stems at a diagonal angle before placing them in water. This increases the surface area for water absorption. Ensure you remove all leaves below the water line.

  2. Use Clean Vases: Ensure that your vase is thoroughly cleaned to eliminate any bacteria that could shorten the life of your flowers.

  3. Change the Water Regularly: Replace the water every two to three days to keep it fresh and prevent bacterial growth.

  4. Add Flower Food: Use a small amount of the flower food provided each time you change the water or make your own mixture with sugar and vinegar to nourish the flowers.

  5. Avoid Direct Sunlight: Place your flowers in a cool location away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and drafts to prolong their freshness.

  6. Remove Wilting Leaves: Trim any leaves that will be submerged in water to prevent decay and bacterial growth.

  7. Keep Away from Fruits: Avoid placing your flowers near ripening fruits, as they release ethylene gas, which can hasten wilting.

  8. Re-cut Stems Every Few Days: Re-trim the stems every few days to ensure optimal water intake.

  9. Use a Clean Cutting Tool: Always use sharp, clean scissors or a knife to make cuts on the stems to prevent crushing.

  10. Consider Temperature: Keep your flowers in a cooler room at night to extend their lifespan.
